sweet morning email!

so...i had a happy moment this morning...

last night i emailed Donna Downey a note about how much i love her fun style and creative ideas...and also to tell her that i wanted to share some photos of one of my class projects i will be teaching this weekend at the getaway, since one of them is an idea inspired by her originally...

anyway, i sent her the link to my blog to take a peek at my project and give her some due credit as i thought she might like to see what others feel inspired to create through her...

she emailed me back this morning...she's so sweet!

i am so happy she took a few minutes to look at my blog!!

new digs...and hair too!

LOOK at what I got today!!! New digs to wear at the Gimli Getaway this weekend...and of course classes and hall crops! I had them made by the ladies at the Colony where my MIL teaches elementary school ,and then my sweet lil' bro took them to his work and printed them up today for me!! I LOVE THEM!!! ( them?? ) yes...I had 3 aprons made up! can't wait to show 'em to you in person!!

...and yes...i spent some serious TLC time at the hair salon this evening getting a trim, new highlites and even some AUBURN in my hair! i was feeling experimental so I asked my hairdresser to try straightening it while she was on a roll and here's the finished product...don't mind the BURNING RED PUFFY HOT WAXED eyebrows!! OUCH!!!

Class Projects...Gimli Getaway

...ok...

so are you guys getting as excited as me for THIS WEEKEND??

Gimli Getaway, Gone Scrappin

'countdown' has arrived...4 more days to go ladies! Yaaaayyyyy!!

..at last, and as promised, here are some pic's of the two FREE class projects included in this coming weekends fun! You will be provided with all the basic supplies to create these projects and finish at your own convenience!

This one is a Donna Downey inspired mini canvas album which I have made before...SO CUTE! your project will be using these exact colors of paints and fibres and cardstocks. EVERYTHING is all precut and ' kitted ' for everyone! ( you guys are spoiled! ) if you can, try to think of some photos you can use for your canvas album using these colors ( HINT...Black and White photos of ANY occasion will rock in this project! ) I chose to use some photos i took while visiting Misty Lake Lodge last summer while exploring on walks on the beach...

you probably won't have time IN the class to start your photo part of the project, but if you plan now for your photos, you will have a mini project to complete over the weekend!
( includes 3 white 5 x 7 canvases, use of paints, brushes, precut cardstocks, 5 ft precut fibres, binder rings, use of foam stamps )

...this project is a totally cute mini album in an altered Provo Craft tin. I am showing it to you in it's 'basics' form as to how your's will look after the class exactly!
all basic supplies will be provided for you to create this adorable tin & album project!
( tin, paints, brushes, mod podge, 3 12 x 12 double sided patterned papers, coil and use of Zutter Bind-It-All machine )



...so, there you have the free class projects! I will have a sign up sheet available to choose your own time to take the class over the weekend at your convenience. classes will be offered several times to be sure that everyone gets a chance to make the projects if they choose to!


...stock for the store has been rolling in here and it's sooooo exciting to see everything! there will be some new releases from CHA available, and more coming into the spring and summer ( april - june ) so keep looking for new arrivals at the hall crops too! i've been busy wrapping prizes and door prizes and planning all the little details...i ALMOST feel ready! { GIGGLE }

Happy Easter Monday!

so...this lousy cold of mine knocked me on my butt this past week for 3 days in bed, NOT KIDDING. i am still not quite 100% yet but i am so glad that it happened now and not while at the Gimli Getaway weekend in 11 MORE SLEEPS! ( yaahh... :O) )

we went to mike's parents yesterday out in woodmore for an easter visit and yummy dinner! it was so beautiful outside so the kids wanted to play and explore around the yard and get some fresh air! i got mike to pull over off the highway coming home around 7:45pm because this

Easter Sunday Sunset was just so pretty and warm and promising... thanks honey for stopping!

on saturday we went to my mom's for easter dinner too! another yummy dinner much appreciated! ( after not eating much for about 5 days, my appetite was back and it was all soooo good! ) so special thanks to our mom's for cooking our families such wonderful easter dinners!

we always play a bunch of fun games at family holiday gatherings and here's a few fun shots at moms...

grandma and grandpa are definately the heart of my family. our holidays always have extra special touches with them there! the 'games and prizes' was born by my grandma, who of course got it from her mother...and so the story goes!

courtney and tyler each had some 'alone time' with their grandma and nana last week to prepare the easter eggs at moms! i am so grateful for that because i was sooooo sick last week that i just could not motivate myself to get our house ready...no egg coloring, no decorations, and the easter baskets for the 'easter bunny' did not go out until 8pm easter eve...it was very hard to swallow my pride and not do what i always enjoy to do with them...thank goodness for grandma's, ya know??

...our easter eggs are not only for decorative eating...

every year we have an egg rolling contest and the winners from each race has to race the other winners, until there is only one winner...get it?

the catch is...you can only use your NOSE to roll it!!!

anyway, to our surprise, my almost 87 year old grandma was not to be left out this year! she raced with courtney! she didn't get much further than past the starting line, but she had fun and gave us all a good chuckle too! what a good sport!

...it almost always comes down to these two boys to take the 'marble egg trophy'...

mike has this technique of getting halfway and then using his nose to 'slapshot' the egg accross the finish line! works every time! better luck next year brother curtis!


...and a quick catch up from last week...

courtney had her third 'black and purple' swim meet last week and her team won...it was very close though! good swimming courtney!

...last sunday was courtney's scottish tea where she received her awards from her dance exams she did in february. the girls always to a performance for the families and this time courntey participated in her first 6 dancer broadsword! ( actually, it was the first time for them all! )

it was done very nicely and most enjoyable to watch!

...AND...i'm almost ready to show you the Gimli class projects...

since i was sick i fell behind on my 'to do' list so i feel totally under pressure now to get things done! but that's okay...i think i am more productive when i 'm under pressure!

i am expecting two more HUGE shipments of goodies to stock up the store yet by the end of this week...and all the welcome bags are almost finished being stuffed! the contest prizes are all ready to go and the small details are all being finalized...so really, aside from finishing the class project samples and packing everything up, i'm almost ready! oh, and i'm sooo excited too because i had some aprons made up to wear at the getaway...i picked them up yesterday and now they just need the printing done on them!!!

crash and burn...

DANG, am i sick.

started feeling yucky at work sunday night, felt gradually worse yesterday and stuck it out for my sketches class last night, but today...BAM!!!! i stayed semi-conscious all morning, had no energy or ability to function and get the kids off to school...courtney had to be 'mommy' this morning and get herself and tyler breakfast!

unbelievable...i don't even know where this came from. work? no one else is sick in our family right now but i sure hope they don't get htis...

i was hallucinating most of the night...kinda funny...due to a high fever? or the shot of nyquil bed? LOL!!!

well, off to rest some more...be back in a couple days...

it's really happening...

...still can't believe that the four of us AND my mom are all going to Scotland this summer!!

seeing these passport photos we just had done is making it all become very real! we are a little slow in sending off our passport info, kinda in the 5 month squeeze time, but i'm sure it'll all be fine! i HATE these photos though...i know they are regulation and all, but when i think of photos i think of happy smiling people, having fun, caught in the moments of time....not mug shots!LOL!!! tyler had the giggles and took a little longer to catch, i guess he feels the same as i do about photos! it looks like we should all be holding police I.D numbers under our chins!

...courtney's dance competition yesterday went well! she tried her best and she won 4 new medals! she even placed in one of her new dances she did for the first time too!! the girls finished with their Jig dance so here they are in their jig dresses!!!

good dancing girls!! us moms are all so proud of you!! keep it up!

scrapbooking world is crazier than ever...trying to keep on top of things and staying organized is causing lost sleep at night, but it's all fun at the same time!

i am having another 'sketches' class monday night ( tomorrow ) and still have a few spots left if anyone is interested...and this friday night is the Pizza Box Album class and still have a few spots for that one as well! if you need more info on class descriptions, etc...just email me! thegriffs@mts.net

Gimli Getaway, Gone Scrappin is in 2 and a half weeks!! still room for registration but the cut off date is March 21...so please get yourself registered ASAP as you won't want to miss out on a awesome getaway weekend full of scrappin', contests, sales, time with your friends and relaxation!!!

...i am off to courtney's Scottish Tea for the afternoon...she will get her awards today from all her dance exams she did in February! have a happy sunday afternoon everyone!
